DCU hits the gas: Supergirl and Clayface are theater-bound this year, Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow enters production, and DC Studios is finally delivering long-awaited updates on its previously announced slate.

DC Studios is juggling a lot right now, and James Gunn just dropped a couple of those where-are-they-now updates fans have been asking for. Short version: one buzzy project looks dead, two TV series are very much alive, and the speculation machine is spinning up again thanks to a very specific casting rumor.

Where things stand right now

The film side keeps moving: Supergirl and Clayface are headed to theaters this year, and Gunn’s Superman follow-up, Man of Tomorrow, is gearing up to shoot. But a bunch of previously announced projects have been in question. Here’s what Gunn just clarified on Threads:

"BG is in development. PL is in extreme development."
"And the ones that have writers' rooms up!"

Translation: Booster Gold is active, Paradise Lost is very active, and yes, having a writers room up is Gunn’s yardstick for what counts as full-steam-ahead. That’s the kind of behind-the-scenes detail that actually matters.

So what about The Authority?

Not the update fans wanted: it sounds like The Authority has reached the end of the road. No cute phrasing needed there. Sometimes the train just stops.

Booster Gold rumor control

Earlier this year, the internet convinced itself Booster Gold was quietly scrapped after the creator of Our Flag Means Death who was attached to write the pilot, Jenkins, wiped old posts about the show. He later tamped that down, saying, "As far as I know, it is still in the pipeline." Gunn’s latest note backs that up and then some. If Paradise Lost is in the so-called extreme phase, Booster Gold is still marching along right behind it.

Paradise Lost status... and the Wonder Woman theory

Paradise Lost had its own round of cancellation rumors months back, which Gunn already shot down. Now he’s upgraded it to "extreme development," and that single word just poured gasoline on a separate rumor: who Adria Arjona is playing in Man of Tomorrow.

Here’s the situation. Arjona is officially in the cast for Man of Tomorrow, character not announced. The tidy, logical guess is Maxima. But a chunk of fans believe that’s a codename and she’s actually Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. That theory caught fire after Arjona posted a training video on Instagram. With Paradise Lost (a Themyscira-set series) moving fast, the timeline math gets interesting: Man of Tomorrow will likely land before Paradise Lost, which would make a stealth Wonder Woman intro in the film a clean setup for the series. To be clear, none of that is confirmed. It’s just the sort of dots fans love connecting when studios play coy with character names.

The quick take

  • Booster Gold: Still in development, per Gunn.
  • Paradise Lost: In "extreme development," which Gunn says means a writers room is up and running.
  • The Authority: Looks done. Don’t expect it to move forward.
  • Man of Tomorrow: Spooling up production; Adria Arjona is in, role undisclosed.
  • Supergirl and Clayface: Aiming for theaters this year.
  • Rumor watch: Arjona as Wonder Woman (with Maxima as a decoy name) is unconfirmed but gaining steam, especially with Paradise Lost accelerating.

Bottom line: DC Studios just quietly cleared some fog. Two TV projects live, one film bows out, and the next Superman chapter is lining up cameras. Whether Arjona is actually Diana or just playing the world’s most convincing misdirect, we’ll find out soon enough. For now, "extreme development" is your new favorite phrase.
