How Tall is Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham? Rebecca Fans, We Finally Have the Answer!
Waddingham was grateful that Sudeikis' focus was not on her height.
Summary
- Rebecca Welton is Ted Lasso's tallest female character.
- According to the actress, Jason Sudeikis defied the stereotypes.
- We may yet see a sequel to Ted Lasso in one form or another.
Since its debut in 2020, Ted Lasso has mesmerized audiences with its upbeat atmosphere and sympathetic characters overcoming their fears, traumas, and professional struggles. Peppered with soccer lingo and comedy, the show is remarkably therapeutic and relatable, and has earned high ratings, high scores on review aggregators, and an incredibly loyal fan base.
And while Season 3 was a little less successful (with an 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes compared to 92% and 98% for Seasons 1 and 2), Ted Lasso is still present in the mainstream media and fans are still hoping that Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence and Brendan Hunt will decide to give the AFC Richmond story another run.
And while it's unlikely that Jason Sudeikis will return to the title role, as he's repeatedly noted that Ted's own story is complete, it's entirely possible that we could one day see the rest of the characters back on our small screens. In particular, many fans are eager to see how the story of Rebecca Welton, played by the incomparable Hannah Waddingham, unfolds after the Season 3 finale. Stately, tall and elegant, the British actress is remembered for her confident presence that gives men in the sports industry a run for their money.
But let's find out just how tall Hannah Waddingham is.
So How Tall Is Rebecca?
Rebecca was taller than almost all the main cast members, being a head taller than Ted and only slightly shorter than Coach Beard (for comparison, Brendan Hunt's height is 6' or 1.83 m) and Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head is 6'1" or 1.86 m). Below we have provided a comparison with Juno Temple:
As it turns out, the height of the incomparable Hannah Waddingham is 5'5" or 1.8 m. According to the actress herself, the TV and film industry is used to making female characters shorter than male ones, which is why she 'had always struggled'. However, Jason Sudeikis did not care about her height, because first of all he saw in her a brilliant actress, capable of playing a great owner of AFC Richmond:
'[The] fact that he was just like, "No, I don't care that she's taller than me," That is a completely unique situation to find yourself in where the man is so generous that they want to raise you up and celebrate everything that you are and not that you are, like, some skinny mini.'
.@hanwaddingham attributes the incredible success of #TedLasso to "the beautiful alchemy of the best writing and the best people for the jobs" and she shares with us how her Emmy-winning role impacted her life. https://t.co/cVclFZQmjA pic.twitter.com/BVW9pfquDt

Will There Be a Fourth Season of Ted Lasso?
But will we see Rebecca again? Jason Sudeikis has repeatedly stated that his original plan was to limit the show to three seasons. But could that change given the high ratings and the enthusiasm of the cast itself?
In the week of the Ted Lasso Season 3 finale, the show was watched by Apple TV+ users for more than 1 billion minutes, which is not only an amazing record for the streaming service, but also makes Ted Lasso one of the most popular shows of recent years. As a result, WB Television Group CEO Channing Dungey said at the Banff World Media Festival 2024 that Apple and Warner Bros. do not intend to give up on the show:
'I think Jason Sudeikis is open to the idea, but I think he wants to have the right idea, which I appreciate it. We at Warner Bros. appreciate, Apple appreciates, because it’s the sort of thing where you don’t want to go do more, just for the sake of more, you want to go do more, because you actually have something to say, you have a story that you want to tell. We’ll see what happens.'
