Thinking about finally starting Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan? Good timing — the story is now complete, and it recently got a little bigger.

The short answer

Four seasons and 30 episodes, all streaming on Prime Video — plus a follow-up movie, Ghost War, released May 20, 2026. The series itself ran from 2018 to 2023 with John Krasinski as the CIA analyst who keeps getting dragged out from behind his desk.

Season by season

  • Season 1 (2018) — 8 episodes. Analyst Jack Ryan uncovers a terrorist financing network and is pulled into the field alongside James Greer (Wendell Pierce).
  • Season 2 (2019) — 8 episodes. A contested election and a corrupt regime in Venezuela draw Jack into a geopolitical firestorm.
  • Season 3 (2022) — 8 episodes. Jack goes rogue across Europe to stop a rogue faction from restoring the Soviet empire — while being hunted by his own government.
  • Season 4 (2023) — 6 episodes. The final season, released June 30 through July 14, 2023, makes Jack CIA Acting Deputy Director, tasked with rooting out corruption inside the agency itself, with Michael Peña joining as Domingo "Ding" Chavez.

All in, you're looking at roughly 26 hours of viewing.

Why did it end at four seasons?

By design. Krasinski told TheWrap in December 2022 that seasons 3 and 4 were shot back-to-back precisely because the fourth was always planned as the last — he wanted the story to end deliberately rather than fade out. Season 4 delivers a rare thing for the genre: Jack actually survives, steps away from the CIA, and gets his vacation with Cathy Mueller.

What about the movie?

Ghost War picks up three years after the series, with Krasinski's Jack reluctantly pulled back in for one more mission — a little rustier than we left him. Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly return too. And Amazon has been developing a spin-off built around Peña's Ding Chavez, so the Clancy universe on Prime Video isn't done yet.

For the record: Krasinski is the fifth actor to play Jack Ryan, after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine — and the only one who got to finish the story on his own terms.
