June’s drop is a big one for HBO Max, with a flood of new films and series led by the return of its fantasy flagship House of the Dragon.

June on HBO Max is loaded. Dragons are flying back in, the library drop is big, and a few buzzy A24 films are sneaking onto the service. By Max's own count, there are 93 new additions this month (sports and AEW not included), plus a new monthly spotlight collection. And yes, as always, they warn the lineup can shift.

The quick version (because there is a lot)

The headline is House of the Dragon returning mid-month. The schedule is oddly labeled: Max lists an ASL version tied to Season 2 on June 15, then says Season 3 premieres June 21 (with an ASL version that same day). The takeaway: Dragons are back in the middle of the month; the season-numbering in the calendar is messy.

TV also brings My Adventures with Superman Season 3 (June 14), Rick and Morty Season 9 (June 15), and a new Larry David comedy called Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness (June 26) — which is exactly the kind of title he would pick. On the film side: A24's Pillion (June 5), Undertone (June 26), and How to Make a Killing (June 19) arrive, alongside crowd-pleasers and cult favorites like Ready Player One, Gran Turismo, Hell or High Water, Midsommar, Mid90s, Room, The Rock, Isle of Dogs, and a stack of classic noir and studio-era gems.

Pride month spotlight

Starting June 1, Max is curating an LGBTQ+ collection page. It mixes originals, films, comedy specials, and a couple of brand-new titles tied to their premiere dates (Pillion on 6/5 and Proud on 6/12). Full slate below with the rest of the calendar.

Odds and ends I feel compelled to point out

Yes, those House Hunters season numbers are wild. HGTV loves a Volume/Season labeling scheme that looks like a tax return. Also, there is an Earth, Wind & Fire special with a title long enough to need a deep breath. And if you thought you misread that last one on June 30: Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story is indeed the title.

What are you pressing play on first?
