Grown-up Bamm-Bamm on Ryan Gosling’s wish list for The Flintstones live-action reboot

Ryan Gosling and producing partner Jessie Henderson are cooking up a new trip to Bedrock: a live-action The Flintstones feature at Warner Bros. built around an adult Bamm-Bamm Rubble. The project is in the very early going — Open Invite, Gosling’s banner with Henderson, is currently meeting with writers to crack the script, according to Deadline.

The concept shifts the “modern Stone Age” into a next-gen story, following Bamm-Bamm well past his club-swinging toddler phase. It wouldn’t be the first time the character grew up on screen: the 1971 animated spinoff The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show reimagined him as a Bedrock High teen dating Pebbles and fronting the Bedrock Rockers, with Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty mostly popping in for cameos.

Bedrock has gone live action before. The Flintstones (1994) and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000) rolled up a combined $401 million worldwide, proof there’s still an audience for dino-powered cars and bronto-ribs on the big screen.

Ghost Rider confirmed

On a very different track, Marvel used Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con to officially name Gosling the new Ghost Rider, ending years of fan guessing. Kevin Feige brought him on stage to a thunderous ovation as the studio introduced the character’s standalone return to the MCU.

The movie will be directed by Shawn Levy , reuniting him with Gosling right after their work together on Star Wars: Starfighter . It’s billed as the character’s biggest live-action comeback since Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze nearly two decades ago.

Ghost Rider is slated to hit theaters in 2028.

Gosling had already hinted this might happen, calling the situation “complicated” earlier this year while promoting Project Hail Mary — a film that went on to gross over $680 million worldwide.

As for Bedrock, the Bamm-Bamm movie is still assembling its creative team, with Open Invite and Warner Bros. currently in the hunt for a writer.
