Gold Rush Season 15 is Coming Soon – Here's When

Although Gold Rush has been on the air for 14 years, the reality television series about placer gold miners remains one of the most popular projects on the Discovery Channel. No wonder, as viewers are fascinated by the chronicle of the hard work of prospectors, both experienced and novice, in the rich lands of the Yukon in Canada and Alaska, Florida and California in the United States. Harsh conditions, high stakes and pure luck — that's what surrounds the series' participants and keeps us coming back to Gold Rush.

Each season focuses on several mine owners and their crew as they work to find gold, develop new mines, find new locations, hire new workers, apply new engineering solutions, and deal with the financial side of gold mining. Basically, everything that brave miners do! That's why many fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the series for a new season. But when can we expect Gold Rush Season 15?

When Is Gold Rush Season 15 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, Discovery has not yet announced a release date for Gold Rush Season 15, leaving us to speculate. However, the show has not been canceled, so the release of new episodes is only a matter of time. Fortunately, we can use the release dates of the previous seasons as a reference.

The first season aired from December to February, and the ten subsequent seasons (not including the spin-offs The Jungle, South America, Parker's Trail, White Water, Dave Turin's Lost Mine, Freddy Dodge's Mine Rescue, Winter's Fortune, and Hoffman Family Gold) aired from October to February/March. However, beginning with Season 12, Discovery has moved up the premiere of its popular show, and the last three seasons to date have aired from September through March.

In other words, unless Discovery suddenly decides to change its TV series schedule, and there are no sudden interruptions during production, the release of the new Season 5 of Gold Rush should also be expected in September 2024. The number of episodes is still unknown, but most likely it will be the same number as in the previous seasons, i.e. from 20 to 26.

What Do We Know about Gold Rush Season 15 Thus Far?

In addition, it remains unknown what viewers will see in Gold Rush Season 15. However, Parker Schnabel, Tony Beets, Rick Ness and the McCaughans, as well as their crews will certainly return to the show.

One thing we do know at this point, however, is that we should not expect Fred Lewis to return. The military medic and Green Beret vet has been out of luck since his debut as an independent miner in Season 12. For three seasons in a row, fans have speculated that Lewis would eventually leave the show.

He also faced some backlash from viewers and his own crewmates, as his failures not only left the operation in the red, but also his employees without paychecks. As a result, Fred Lewis announced that he was leaving the project and returning to the United States with his family. According to him, the reason was not the mining, but the fact that he and his family were receiving threats on the Internet:

'This decision was not made due to mining but rather due to a threat I received that I’m taking seriously. My family’s safety is paramount and with my background I simply don’t have a space for violence in my life anymore so I’m separating myself from it and moving on.'
