Ezra Miller's Comeback Begins With Controversial New Role

Ezra Miller is stepping back into the spotlight — carefully — with a new role in an upcoming film by Lynne Ramsay, marking their first major project since The Flash flamed out in 2023 and a laundry list of legal troubles made headlines.
The film? A still-untitled vampire movie. The director? Ramsay, best known for We Need to Talk About Kevin, which also happened to be the last time she and Miller worked together. This time, they're not just teaming up — they're co-writing the script.
In an interview published June 19th with Lo Speciale Giornale, Miller confirmed the collaboration:
"I'm working with her again. That will likely be the first thing I do, is a film that her and I are writing together. I've been writing a lot because you can do that in solitude, which has been friendly to me."
They also added that their current status with Hollywood is… complicated:
"Tentative — I'd say on tentative grounds."
That's putting it mildly.
Since 2022, Miller's been surrounded by serious allegations — including assault, grooming, and multiple arrests for disorderly conduct. One infamous incident, caught on video, showed them choking a woman in an Icelandic bar back in 2020. Charges piled up, headlines followed, and by the time The Flash came out, most of the conversation had nothing to do with box office numbers.
Eventually, Miller issued a statement, saying they had been in "a time of intense crisis," and were dealing with "complex mental health issues" — and had entered treatment. Some of the charges have since been dropped.
Their quiet re-entry into the industry began earlier this year, when they showed up — unexpectedly — at Cannes, supporting Ramsay's latest project, Die My Love. That appearance, plus this upcoming film, seems to mark the beginning of a very controlled, very selective comeback.
Ramsay, for her part, has called Miller "one of my closest friends in the world" and clearly has no hesitation about working with them again. Which, naturally, has already stirred debate online.
No title, no release date, and no official plot yet — just "vampires" and a lot of curiosity (and side-eye). Whether the film gets made without controversy catching up to it remains to be seen, but for now, Ezra Miller's comeback is officially underway… quietly.
