Euphoria Season 3 Will Have a Time Jump
As Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs, rightly pointed out, the show needs a time jump to continue.
HBO has already reviewed the draft script for the third season. The continuation of Euphoria could jump five years into the future, which seems logical – the first season was released back in 2019, and by now the show has lost several main characters.
Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, left the series, and Angus Cloud, who played Fez, died in 2023.
Currently, it is known that Sam Levinson planned to shift the focus of Zendaya's character and make her a private detective. The actress herself suggested that Rue become a surrogate mother.
Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie, thinks that the time jump in the third season is a good decision that will give more opportunities to develop her character.
However, according to insiders, all new versions of the Euphoria script so far do not match the mood of previous seasons. In addition, a change in format was considered: the creators thought about both a special episode and a full-length movie, but both ideas were rejected.
Zendaya and Sam Levinson's Conflict
The main reason for the delay in the release of the third season of Euphoria was creative differences between Sam Levinson and Zendaya.
Initially, Levinson and the actress shared a common vision for the project. Zendaya found the director inspiring and understood that the prototype for Rue was the director himself. As a teenager, Sam Levinson suffered from drug addiction and went to rehab.
Zendaya won two Emmy Awards for her role as Rue. Then, during the pandemic, the actress starred in Sam Levinson's movie Malcolm & Marie.
After that, Sam Levinson's attention turned to the creation of the series The Idol, which had a detrimental effect on work on the second season of Euphoria. In addition, when the project about a pop idol received a lot of negative reviews, Zendaya felt that her reputation suffered as well.
To figure out what to do next, Levinson, Zendaya and HBO executives met to discuss creative issues, but the conflict was not resolved.

Filming for the third season of Euphoria will begin in January 2025. The third season is scheduled for release in 2026.
