Drake at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finale? The Truth Behind the Rumor
Drake at the 2026 World Cup closing ceremony? Here’s the truth behind the viral claim.
If your feed told you Drake locked the 2026 World Cup 'closing ceremony,' take a breath. The short version: that viral post was a spoof, there is no closing ceremony, and FIFA already announced a totally different, very real lineup for a brand-new halftime show at the final. The timing just collided with Drake's surprise drop 'Iceman' blowing up, which did the rumor no favors.
Where the Drake rumor came from
A popular parody account called Hoops Crave fired off a confidently worded post claiming Drake was performing at the 2026 World Cup closing ceremony. It racked up millions of views and confused a lot of soccer fans and playlist scrollers in record time.
'Drake will be performing at the 2026 World Cup closing ceremony.'
Couple problems: FIFA has not confirmed Drake for anything, and there is no closing ceremony scheduled for 2026. What FIFA actually rolled out is a first-ever halftime show during the final. Different thing entirely.
What FIFA actually announced
FIFA officially unveiled a Super Bowl-style concert at halftime of the 2026 World Cup Final, curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and broadcast live worldwide. The headliners are Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. The show is set for Sunday, July 19, 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium.
'Madonna, Shakira, and BTS are global icons whose music transcends borders and generations, and we are proud to welcome them to the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay,' said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The charity play (and who is producing this)
The halftime spectacle is being produced by Global Citizen in close partnership with Live Nation and Done + Dusted. In a short promo film, curator Chris Martin introduced the lineup and pitched the theme as togetherness — basically, everyone is invited.
The concert supports the new FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to expand quality learning and soccer opportunities for kids around the world. One dollar from every tournament ticket sold is automatically going to the fund.
'Performing at the World Cup final in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is deeply meaningful to me. Without education, children are denied opportunity before they even have a chance,' Madonna said.
Shakira will debut a brand-new tournament anthem called 'Dai Dai,' written to inspire kids globally. BTS put it this way:
'Music is the universal language of hope and harmony, and we’re honored to celebrate that power at the World Cup by connecting with millions of viewers around the world in support of children’s education.'

So, where does that leave Drake?
The rumor came from a parody post and remains unverified by soccer officials. Could he pop up somewhere during the tournament in some other capacity? Maybe. But as far as the final is concerned, FIFA has already booked the stage — and Drake is not on that bill.
