Disney’s Princess Jasmine Voice Surprised KPop Demon Hunters Star

Arden Cho, who voices Rumi in the animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, recently shared a remarkable story about an unexpected phone call that left her both shocked and deeply moved. After the film ’s release, Cho received a call from Linda Larkin, the actress who first brought Princess Jasmine to life in Disney ’s Aladdin. The conversation, which lasted two hours, was a moment Cho says she’ll never forget.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cho recounted the surreal experience.

“A couple months after the movie came out, Linda Larkin, the voice of Princess Jasmine, called me and we had a two-hour phone conversation,”

she explained.

“I put it on speaker, because, for the first hour, I was like, ‘Is this really happening? Am I talking with Jasmine?’”

Larkin, who began voicing Jasmine in 1992’s Aladdin—the first animated film to gross over $500 million—continued to play the character in sequels like The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

Cho described how Larkin reached out to offer her congratulations and to express genuine admiration for her work.

“Well, she wanted to congratulate me, and she actually told me [that], as a voice actor, she was really impressed with my work with Rumi, and she loved the depth and the layers and all of it. I think at one point we were both crying. And she was like, ‘You’re gonna be a modern-day princess!’”

The emotional exchange left a lasting impression on Cho, who found herself overwhelmed by the support from someone she had admired for years.
