Chris Pratt’s action-packed sci-fi film ‘The Tomorrow War’ is set to leave Prime Video and land on Peacock in 2026. With a sequel in the works, fans will soon have a new way to stream this divisive hit.

Amazon Studios’ high-octane science fiction adventure, ‘The Tomorrow War,’ is gearing up for a major streaming move. The film, which stars Chris Pratt as a former Green Beret turned biology teacher, will shift from Prime Video to Peacock starting January 1, 2026. This change gives viewers a fresh platform to catch the movie that sparked plenty of debate among critics and audiences alike.

Time-Traveling Action and a Star-Studded Cast

Directed by Chris McKay, best known for ‘The Lego Batman Movie,’ this was his first foray into live-action filmmaking. The story centers on Dan Forester (Chris Pratt), who is drafted into a war that spans across decades. When time travelers from 2051 arrive, they recruit present-day civilians and soldiers to battle a deadly alien threat that could wipe out humanity. Alongside Pratt, the cast features Yvonne Strahovski, J.K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Keith Powers. Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist and his estranged father in a desperate bid to save the world.

Originally intended for a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures, the film’s plans shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, it debuted on Prime Video, where it quickly became a streaming sensation. In its first week, 2.41 million households tuned in, making it one of the platform’s most-watched titles at the time.

Mixed Reviews and Streaming Success

‘The Tomorrow War’ divided critics, earning a 51% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audiences responded more favorably, giving it a 76% rating. Despite its $200 million budget, the film’s blend of action, science fiction, and adventure found a strong following among viewers. The movie runs for 138 minutes, is rated PG-13, and was written by Zach Dean. Producers include David S. Goyer, Jules Daly, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, Don Granger, and Adam Kolbrenner.

The move to Peacock marks a new chapter for the film, offering fans another way to experience the explosive battles and emotional moments that made it a streaming hit. The switch is set for the start of 2026, giving audiences plenty of time to revisit or discover the story before the sequel arrives.

Sequel in the Works

Excitement is building for the next installment in the franchise. A follow-up, tentatively titled ‘The Tomorrow War 2,’ is currently in development. Amazon is looking to expand the universe, with Chris Pratt expected to return. Director Chris McKay has confirmed that the sequel is moving forward, saying it is

“happening relatively soon.”

He also highlighted Pratt’s performance, noting the mix of humor and emotion he brings to the role. While details about the plot remain under wraps, anticipation is high among fans eager to see where the story goes next.

‘The Tomorrow War’ first premiered on July 2, 2021, and quickly became a standout in the action and sci-fi genres. With its upcoming move to Peacock and a sequel on the horizon, the film’s legacy as a streaming phenomenon continues to grow.
