Quentin Tarantino is heading back to the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood universe — and you'll be reading it.

The new book has a title: The Adventures of Cliff Booth. It ’s a full-length novel from Tarantino that zeroes in on Brad Pitt’s stuntman tough guy, the same character he fleshed out in his 2021 novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood . Publisher HarperCollins is releasing it on December 8, 2026.

Tarantino is timing the novel to the movie world’s return to Cliff. The sequel is officially titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, set in 1977 just like the book, and following the character through another round of trouble. It opens in IMAX theaters November 25, 2026, with a Netflix streaming bow December 23.

While Tarantino wrote the sequel’s script, he’s not directing; he handed the reins to David Fincher. Tarantino has long said he plans to retire after 10 films — he’s made nine — and has hinted he wants to do something different for that final project.

Where to rewatch the original

If you’re catching up, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is currently streaming on FuboTV, and it’s also available to rent on Prime Video for $3.99. The 2019 hit — which earned more than $350 million worldwide — follows aging TV cowboy Rick Dalton and his loyal stunt double Cliff Booth, with a parallel thread about Sharon Tate and late-’60s Los Angeles.
