Bachelorette Alum Ali Fedotowsky Defends Sleep Divorce: The Real Reason She and Kevin Sleep Apart
Former The Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky is doubling down on her amicable sleep divorce from husband Kevin Manno, telling fans in a Helix Sleep–sponsored Instagram video that separate beds work for them — even if the idea riles people up.
Former Bachelorette lead Ali Fedotowsky says she and her husband, Kevin Manno, are happily "sleep divorced." Not a scandal, just logistics. And yes, they explained the whole thing in a sponsored Instagram video on Saturday, May 9, for a mattress company. Of course they did.
"I am not sleeping in bed with my husband that much. And I really like it. "
What kicked this off
Ali, 41, and Kevin, 42, posted a joint Instagram video in partnership with Helix Sleep, where Ali opens by acknowledging some people will see this as controversial. Kevin shrugs it off as pretty common now, which, honestly, it is.
Why they do it
- The kids: Their two little ones, Molly and Riley, still love weekend sleepovers with Mom and Dad. That means musical beds in their house. Ali and Kevin even admit they argue over who gets the guest room because, apparently, it has the best setup in the place.
- The guest-room mattress: Speaking of that setup — it is a Helix, per the video — and they both say it is so comfortable that giving it up feels like a downgrade. Hence the friendly tug-of-war for that room.
- The 3 a.m. alarm: Kevin gets up brutally early for work, and his phone going off in the middle of the night is not exactly soothing. Ali jokes that hearing it makes her want to do something she probably should not, so for the sake of the marriage, he will sometimes head downstairs to the guest room.
Ali doubled down in the caption, asking if anyone else does not share a bed every single night and noting that all three reasons are solid — but that third one is more than enough on its own.
Quick relationship refresher
Ali was the Bachelorette back in 2010 for season 6. She got engaged to Roberto Martinez on the show; they split in 2011. She married Kevin in March 2017, and they have two kids, Molly and Riley. In January 2025, Kevin was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. A year later, they shared the good news: doctors declared him cancer-free.
So how normal is "sleep divorce" now?
More than you might think. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recently found that 31 percent of U.S. adults sleep separately from their partner at least some of the time. Actress Kaley Cuoco even chimed in on Ali and Kevin's post, saying, "We do not sleep in the same bed and it is a game changer!"
Bottom line: they are not sharing a bed every night, they like it, and they are not alone. Also, the guest room is the hot property in that house — which is both funny and, honestly, kind of relatable.
