Not Mormon, not married — Aspyn Ovard is still claiming her spot on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, brushing off backlash over the title’s labels as a rerun of the original show’s controversy.

Aspyn Ovard knows the title is a mouthful and, yeah, a little misleading. She is on Hulu 's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, and no, she is not currently Mormon or married. She talked through the backlash and why she still belongs on the show in a new YouTube video posted Monday, May 11.

Her take on the title (and why she is still in the mix)

"Obviously, I am not a wife. I am not married. But there are a lot of Mormon girls in the cast. I think there are only two of us that are not married."

She gets why people are side-eyeing the branding. She even floated that something like 'Secret Lives of OC Wives' or 'OC Influencers' might have made more sense. Then again, not everyone on the show is an influencer either. Bottom line: she is not hung up on the name and says her life connects to the community the series is centered on.

Quick background check

Aspyn reminded viewers she was baptized in the church at 9. She grew up in Utah, got married young, and has spent most of her life around Mormon culture. She does not consider herself Mormon now, but says that world shaped her in obvious ways, whether or not she was actively in the faith.

So what is this OC spinoff, exactly?

Back in April, Hulu announced a new Orange County set version of the hit series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, focused on a group of young moms in the area. It is expected to premiere later this year. Joining Aspyn are:

  • Bobbi Althoff
  • Avery Woods
  • Salome Andrea
  • McCall DaPron
  • Chandler Higginson
  • Ashleigh Pease
  • Madison Bontempo

How she ended up on the show

According to Aspyn, producers approached her last year. She still had to do the full casting gauntlet and was not convinced it would actually go forward — as she put it, plenty of spinoffs get talked about and then never happen. This one did. Cameras are up, and they have been filming.

Where her personal life is now

If you know Aspyn, it is probably from her YouTube channel and the family content she used to post with her ex, Parker Ferris. They share three daughters — Cove, Lola, and Elle. Elle was born in April 2024, just days after Aspyn filed for divorce. Since then, she has come out as queer and is dating Bri Davis. She told viewers her stance on the church is not a mystery at this point and that she has been working to build a new life post-divorce and after moving. Which, honestly, is probably the more interesting story than whatever is on the show title card.
