Are There Any Good Shows Left on Discovery Channel for Gold Rush Fans?
Avoid the panic and check out these five fan-recommended shows.
Recently, Gold Rush fans were shocked to learn that another veteran of the popular gold mining show will no longer be appearing on Discovery Channel. Todd Hoffman announced on his Facebook account that Warner Bros. has not renewed the contracts for Hoffman Family Gold and filming will not take place this summer, meaning that Season 3, which recently aired its finale, will be the spinoff's last.
This comes on top of the cancellation of other fan-favorite Gold Rush spinoffs like Dave Turin's Lost Mines, sending fans into a frenzy. Is Discovery Channel going to cancel all gold mining shows one by one? What's left to watch between seasons of Gold Rush?
As a matter of fact, there's no need to panic just yet. Discovery Channel still hasn't canceled a few projects that you might want to check out. Here's a list of five fan-recommended ones.
Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan
There are still a few Gold Rush spinoffs that are up and running. For example, a new fourth season of Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan is just around the corner (August 16th). Our beloved gold recovery experts have found new struggling mine owners they are ready to help. Doubling a miner's recovery is the ultimate goal.
Gold Rush: Parker's Trail
Another Gold Rush spinoff that shows no signs of slowing down is Parker's Trail, which recently returned for its seventh season. In the new episodes, Parker Schnabel traveled to the gold-rich Madeira River in Brazil, the jungles of Guyana, Pocone and other remote areas of South America. At one point, he even encountered wild jaguars.
Aussie Gold Hunters
We know that American gold seekers often choose Australia and New Zealand as their destination. So it makes sense to check out a show that takes place there. A group of miners visit various locations in Western Australia to try to reach their individually set goals for the season. The latest Season 9 aired in February-April this year.
Bering Sea Gold
If you're in the mood for a long binge-watching session, tune in to Bering Sea Gold, which has been running for 17 seasons and is preparing for its 18th installment. The show combines the harsh conditions of the open sea (or sometimes the ocean) with the hunt for gold.
Outback Opal Hunters
Gold is not the only precious thing you can find in the dirt. For something fresh and different, check out Outback Opal Hunters, set in Australia and featuring fearless miners hunting the queen of gems - opal. Season 12 is currently airing on the Discovery Channel.
