Arcane Season 2: What Exactly Happened in the First 3 Episodes?
The best animated series of the decade is back.
Arcane has become a real hit on Netflix. Critics often call it one of the best video game adaptations of all time, thanks to a clear and rich plot that appeals to both League of Legends fans and ordinary viewers.
The events of Arcane take place in two cities – Piltover and Zaun. It focuses on a grand story of magic, social inequality, and progress, as well as a more local, poignant drama – the story of two sisters who find themselves on opposite sides of a tragic conflict.
Why Has Arcane Become So Popular?
There are many colorful characters in Arcane, they are multi-dimensional, they change and develop not even during the season, but during one episode.
Arcane is not only good in content, but also in form. It is an animated series with first-class, expensive animation and spectacular action, always presented in a unique and unconventional way.
An unusually successful soundtrack – the opening song was recorded by Imagine Dragons – perfectly complements what is happening on screen.
Arcane Is the Most Expensive Animated Series in History
Not surprisingly, Netflix was particularly sensitive to the success of the first season and allocated a huge budget for the second season – $100 million.
The total cost of production of the entire Arcane and its advertising campaign amounted to 250 million, which made the animated series the most expensive in history.
Piltover Leadership Sends Caitlyn's Team to Zaun
In the Season 1 finale, Powder, having fully embraced her new identity, Jinx, launches a rocket into the Piltover Council Chamber just as the Councilors are about to vote to grant Zaun independence.
Season 2 begins with the explosion killing three council members, including Caitlyn's mother. The surviving councilors decide to deal Zaun a crushing blow, and all talk of independence is forgotten.
The dedication ceremony of the monument to the fallen councilors turns into a massacre, as the Peacekeepers are attacked by the men of chem-baroness Renni, who wants revenge on Jayce for the death of her son.
Promoted to the rank of Commander, Caitlyn assembles a special squad to hunt down Jinx and the remaining chem-barons. Vi is part of the squad. The squad attacks Jinx, but she manages to escape. Noticing Vi in the squad, Jinx vows to end what is left of her family.
Ambessa Medarda Was Actually Behind the Ceremony Attack
Jinx sets off an explosion, intending to unleash The Gray on Piltover – clouds of air caused by toxic emissions from Piltover's factories. Jinx herself manages to escape, and a rift develops between Vi and Caitlyn. Vi is frightened by the latter's bloodlust.
Through the efforts of Ambessa Medarda, Councilor Mel's mother, martial law is declared in Zaun and Caitlyn is promoted to General. It turns out that Ambessa was behind the attack at the dedication of the monument to the fallen councilors.
