Another Ring for the Chiefs: Heiress Gracie Hunt Engaged to Derek Green
Kansas City Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt, 27, is headed down the aisle after announcing her engagement to Derek Green, 26, in an April 4 Instagram reveal packed with romantic photos and the line It was always you.
Chiefs royalty is officially off the market. Gracie Hunt said yes, and the Instagram drop came with the receipts: the ring, the kneel, and the whole very-planned vibe.
"It was always you."
That was Gracie, 27, announcing her engagement to Derek Green, 26, in a joint post on Saturday, April 4. The photos do the heavy lifting: she’s in a floor-length white dress, he’s in a light gray suit, and the proposal happens at an outdoor altar draped in white flowers with matching candles. Yes, there was an altar for the proposal. Yes, the ring is a conversation starter — an emerald-cut engagement ring set with white diamonds and a big emerald stone.
The family cameo ( and a very familiar last name)
After the quiet moment, the party wasn’t so quiet. Gracie’s parents, Clark and Tavia Hunt, were there. Derek’s parents, Trent and Julie Green, showed up too — and yes, that is former Chiefs QB Trent Green. For those who like the family-tree stuff, this one’s extremely Kansas City.
How we got here
- 2017: Gracie says they’ve been friends since this year.
- April 2025: She posts (and later deletes) an Instagram video hinting at a long-run connection — think the lyric about an "invisible string" — and hugs a mystery guy she doesn’t name.
- May 2025: They hard-launch the relationship on Instagram.
- July 2025: Gracie calls Derek "my best friend" in a post soundtracked to Taylor Swift’s "You Belong With Me." Swift, already an unofficial part of Chiefs world, later got engaged to Travis Kelce in August of that same year.
- Saturday, April 4: The engagement, complete with the emerald ring and that candlelit altar.
The comments section did not hold back
Derek dropped into the post with: "FOREVER AND EVER" plus two red hearts. The congratulations rolled in fast — Erin Andrews with an "Awwww congrats," Modern Family alum Eric Stonestreet chiming in with "Congratulations! And also, CALLED IT!!!", and Randi Mahomes, Patrick’s mom, adding a "So exciting!! Congratulations!"
Quick context check
Gracie is part of one of the wealthiest families in the country — Sports Illustrated has previously pegged the Hunt family’s net worth somewhere around $3 billion — which explains why the proposal looked like a perfectly lit rom-com finale. Only with parents from both sides waiting just off camera.
Anyway, congrats to the happy couple. The Chiefs keep winning rings, and now so does Gracie.
