What it ’s about
Writer-director Nicola Rinciari makes his feature debut with this adaptation of Andrea Ferraris’ graphic novel Una Zanzara nell’Orecchio. The film stars Jake Lacy as Andrew, Nazanin Boniadi as Daniela, and newcomer Ruhi Pal as Sarvari, a four-year-old girl they’ve adopted from India.
Andrew and Daniela travel to Goa to meet Sarvari and bring her home to the U.S., but the plan unravels when Sarvari resists leaving the orphanage she’s always known. The couple has to navigate her distress along with cultural and language barriers, turning their first days as parents into a delicate exercise in trust and communication.

The comedy- drama premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February before a limited theatrical release in June 2026 .
