That's what we call nostalgia.

Nickelodeon was founded in the late 1970s, and in the early 1990s it began broadcasting original animated series of its own production, which became not only popular, but also cult.

For those of you who miss the days when you could come home from school and watch cartoons all day long, we present a list of the best Nickelodeon series – without SpongeBob SquarePants and Avatar the Last Airbender, because they don't need any introduction.

1. Hey Arnold!, 1996-2004

Created by animator Craig Bartlett, this popular and beloved series was the first Nickelodeon show to feature children's voices.

The fictional town of Hillwood is home to schoolboy Arnold. His parents are missing, so he lives with his grandfather Phil and grandmother Gertrude, the owners of the Sunset Arms boarding house.

Growing up in a big city is not easy, but Arnold has many friends who are always willing to share his adventures. Arnold's classmate, Helga, is in love with the boy, but hides her feelings behind an aggressive mask and constant bullying.

2. CatDog, 1998-2005

Cat and Dog are Siamese brothers trying to get along. The thing is, their interests don't overlap at all. Grumpy Cat loves cleanliness, while impulsive and restless Dog is always trying to roll in the mud or eat something harmful, which is why Cat has health problems.

In addition, the townspeople do not like the strange couple, and the two always get into trouble. But even when the whole world is against them, Cat and Dog remain loyal friends despite their differences.

3. The Ren & Stimpy Show, 1991-1996

Created by animator John Kricfalusi, the project was included in the list of the most popular shows of the 1990s, and Frank Zappa and Mark Hamill, among others, voiced the characters.

The plot centers on the adventures of two friends, the evil Chihuahua Ren and the good-natured cat Stimpy. Ren, an aggressive dog who thinks he is smarter than others, surprisingly gets along with the kind and naive Stimpy, who despite Ren's endless teasing still loves him and everyone around him.

4. The Loud House, 2015-...

Lincoln Loud is the middle child of a family of ten sisters. Although the Loud family is very close, Lincoln's life is an endless battle for the right to use the only bathroom in the house or to choose which TV show to watch in the evening.

Each episode presents a new challenge, but Lincoln always has a well-thought-out plan to outwit his younger and older sisters. Thanks to his ingenuity and ability to find a common language with all his different sisters, the boy manages to get out of the most difficult situations.

5. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, 2002-2006

Created by John A. Davis, the series is based on his feature-length animation. This is the first time Nickelodeon has used CGI animation. Parents will enjoy the many references to classic science fiction films.

The series follows the adventures of 11-year-old genius Jimmy Neutron, who lives in an ordinary family. Jimmy is passionate about science, but no matter how brilliant his inventions are, they often get him into trouble, which his family and best friends Carl and Sheen help him get out of.
