5 Adventure Series with High RT Score to Watch While Waiting for One Piece Season 2
From dark fantasy to historical battles to space operas and everything in between.
The release date of the second season of One Piece has not yet been announced, but the premiere should be expected in the second half of 2025.
While you wait for the second chapter of the best anime adaptation, here are five other adventure series to help you pass the time.
1. His Dark Materials, 2019-2022
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84%
The series takes place in a parallel world where everyone has a daemon – an animal that reflects their soul. The main character is Lyra Belacqua, who encounters a powerful organization called the Magisterium that seeks to destroy the connection between humans and animals.
When Lyra learns that children are being abducted, she embarks on a perilous journey north to uncover the secrets of Dust – a mysterious substance associated with magic, science, and philosophy. The young girl will face witches, armored bears, and the boundaries of worlds.
2. The Last Kingdom, 2015-2022
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%
The events take place in the 9th century. The main character is Uhtred, the rightful heir to Bebbanburg, raised by the Danes and fighting on the side of the Saxons.
Uhtred is caught up in bloody palace intrigues, wars, and conspiracies, but he always manages to escape unscathed. One day, he will reclaim his lands in Bebbanburg, which rightfully belong to him alone.
The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell's 13-novel adventure cycle The Saxon Stories, although the series has become less and less faithful to the source material over time.
3. Firefly, 2002-2003
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 96%
The plot centers on the crew of the starship Serenity, led by Captain Malcolm. Malcolm and his crew, from a mechanic and a companion to a doctor and a mysterious passenger, travel to distant worlds and take on any assignment, be it transporting cargo or participating in risky missions.
Despite the fact that Firefly was canceled by FOX after its first season, it still managed to achieve cult status thanks to its devoted fan base. Thanks to the activity of the fans, it was possible to achieve a full-length sequel – in 2005, the movie Serenity was released, which tried to tie up the storylines left after the first season.
4. Outlander, 2014-...
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%
Former military nurse Claire is mysteriously transported from 1945 to 1743. After finding herself in unfamiliar circumstances, the woman understands that she is in danger because a civil war is brewing, and she finds herself completely alone. Later, Claire meets a Scotsman, Jamie, who becomes her support.
The plot of the series is based on a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. Initially, the authors planned to make a movie, but changed their minds – and rightly so. The series features high-quality direction and cinematography, as well as stunning costumes and sets.
5. Taboo, 2017
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%
The story is set in London in 1814. The protagonist, James Delaney, returns to England after spending decades in Africa. He learns that his father left him an inheritance – a strategically important piece of land of interest to the East India Company and the British government.
