4 Lesser-Known but Great Zombie Horrors for Those Who Still Miss Resident Evil

Nowadays, the living dead plot is not very surprising, but among the numerous zombie horror movies, there are some truly outstanding ones.
Over the past twenty years, the zombie horror genre has blossomed with renewed vigor. We have seen new zombies: more energetic, more intelligent, and even funnier.
1. Pontypool, 2008
Radio host Grant Mazzy from the town of Pontypool, Canada, begins receiving reports that a strange virus is spreading among the local population.
No one really knows what is happening, but numerous messages indicate that victims of the disease are rapidly losing their minds and ability to speak, and then either descend into uncontrollable rage or, conversely, kill themselves by any means necessary.
Frightened radio station employees lock themselves in the studio, but continue to listen to radio stations and report as best they can on the odd epidemic.
2. The Horde, 2009
A team of Paris police officers breaks into a high-rise building where a drug dealer and his men are hiding to avenge the death of their partner.
As they sort things out, the cops and gangsters discover that a virus is spreading rapidly among the building's residents, turning people into zombies. Bad guys and good guys must put aside their differences and fight their way through hordes of the living dead to the exit.
3. Deadgirl, 2008
Rickie and JT, two teenagers, skip school and decide to hang out in an abandoned mental hospital. In the basement of the building, the boys find a zombie woman chained to a table and, after a brief argument, decide to make her their slave.
Rickie, however, is clearly burdened by the idea of a zombified woman and would prefer a normal living one, but JT, on the other hand, is very interested in doing whatever he wants with the captive. Of course, this difference of opinion will soon lead to a conflict with tragic consequences.
4. It Stains the Sands Red, 2016
During the zombie apocalypse, Nick and Molly's car crashes and gets stuck in the sand. A nearby zombie kills Nick, but the wounded Molly manages to escape. To get to safety, she must cross the desert on foot – but there's a problem: the zombie has followed her, and he won't back down.
This is a movie that deliberately challenges one of the most important conventions of zombie horror. It features only one zombie that slowly but persistently pursues the main character in the desert somewhere near Las Vegas.
