FX’s Alien: Earth jolted 2025, launching the Alien saga’s first TV series with a bold prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic that reimagined the franchise—and left fans thrilled and hungry for more.

FX has a legit phenomenon on its hands with Alien: Earth. The franchise finally jumped to TV in 2025, set before Ridley Scott 's 1979 classic, and it actually felt new instead of another chestburster remix. Season 2 was already a go, and now the show just added a familiar face with a voice you can hear in your head as you read this.

Peter Dinklage boards Alien: Earth season 2

Per Deadline, Peter Dinklage has joined the cast for season 2 as a series regular. Character details are under wraps for now, which is exactly the kind of tease this universe thrives on. Cameras are scheduled to roll in May at London’s Pinewood Studios, so we should start hearing more about who he plays once production gets moving.

Quick refresher on where season 1 left us

Season 1 introduced Wendy (Sidney Chandler), a young hybrid woman who makes it to Earth and inadvertently blows open the planet's biggest existential threat. Things escalated fast: a Weyland-Yutani ship collided with Prodigy City, and that chaos paved the way for Xenomorphs and other off-world nasties to reach Earth. On top of that, Weyland-Yutani forces are inbound, which is a polite way of saying trouble is bringing friends. If you are connecting dots about where Dinklage might slot in, you are not alone.

What to expect in season 2

  • Wendy leading her group of hybrids as the fallout from the Prodigy City collision hits Earth hard
  • Xenomorphs (and possibly other alien species) becoming a very Earthbound problem
  • Weyland-Yutani making a move on the planet, which could be the entry point for Dinklage's character
  • No Predator crossover - more on that below

About that Predator crossover idea

Not happening here. Last year, creator Noah Hawley put that speculation to bed and gave some love to the current Predator team while he was at it:

"No, not onto the show, I don't think. I think Dan Trachtenberg, who made Prey and has made the Badlands movie - you know, I loved Prey. I think he's doing a great job with that franchise. He clearly has a plan there. I've met Dan once; we're not kind of coordinating any of that stuff. So, it's not really my plan to do it."

Bottom line: Alien: Earth is keeping its lane, Dinklage is in for season 2, and FX is back at Pinewood in May. If the first season was the slow creep into the nightmare, the next one sounds like the part where the lights go out.
