13% price hike pushes Disney+ premium plan over $20
Disney+ is hiking its ad-free Premium price yet again — the fourth jump in four years — as it expands its content library.
Starting now, Disney+ Premium costs $21.49 a month for new sign-ups, a $2.50 jump from $18.99 that lands as a sharp 13% increase. The change kicked in on Wednesday, September 23, moving the ad-free tier past a price point many streamers have been trying to avoid.
The ad-free tier now costs $21.49 a month — Disney+’s first time over $20.
It ’s the fourth Disney+ price bump in four years, following hikes in October 2024 and October 2023. With this move, Disney’s premium plan is firmly in a new bracket — and no longer the relative bargain it was a year ago.
What you pay now
- Disney+ Premium (ad-free) — $21.49/month (was $18.99)
- Disney+ with ads — $12.49/month (was $11.99)
- Disney+ + Hulu with ads — $12.99/month (unchanged)
- Disney+ + Hulu ad-free — $21.99/month (was $19.99)
The increases arrive as Disney keeps pushing its streaming business toward higher revenue and profitability. For U.S. viewers, Disney+ remains the streaming home for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, plus long-running staples like The Simpsons, with Hulu inside Disney+ for bundle subscribers and ESPN available through bundle options.
What’s new to watch
The timing lines up with a big library drop: Toy Story 5 began streaming on Disney+ on September 23, reuniting Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie for an adventure that pits the toys against new tech threatening their place in Bonnie’s life.
This month also brings Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu to Disney+, paired with a new LEGO special revisiting the original series. September’s slate rounds out with fresh seasons of Chad Powers and other returning shows.
Existing subscribers will see the new Disney+ charges reflected on their next monthly bill.
