Seth Rollins is angling for a legendary video game role in Hollywood — a swing that could have longtime gamers buzzing.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Street Fighter, Seth Rollins didn’t dance around his dream role when a reporter asked which video game hero he wants to bring to the big screen. He named the stealth icon from Konami’s long-running series and even volunteered that he’s been “training” for it by jumping back into an old favorite.

I would love to play Solid Snake. I love Metal Gear Solid growing up, all the iterations of it. I even just went back and played Snake Eater recently so I think I'd make a good Snake.

Rollins told ScreenRant he’d be up for playing Solid Snake, the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid, the landmark stealth franchise created by Hideo Kojima. Snake’s decades of lore include infiltration missions, high-tech gadgets and, yes, the series’ famous cardboard-box disguises.

There is a movie in the works. In April, Sony tapped “Final Destination: Bloodlines” filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein to develop a new Metal Gear Solid film. Rollins isn’t attached to the project; for now, his Snake talk is a very public pitch.

Wrestlers on the big screen

Rollins’ wish comes as fellow WWE headliners make their own gaming leap with Street Fighter, directed by Kitao Sakurai. The cast includes multiple ring-to-screen crossovers alongside a roster of fan-favorite fighters:

  • Roman Reigns — Akuma
  • Cody Rhodes — Guile
  • Noah Centineo — Ken
  • Andrew Koji — Ryu
  • Jason Momoa — Blanka

Boxoffice Pro’s October 14 forecast has Street Fighter tracking for a $25 million–$35 million domestic opening weekend, down from an earlier $30 million–$40 million outlook. Early critical response started at 28% on Rotten Tomatoes before rising into the 40s as more reviews posted.

Street Fighter opens in North American theaters on October 16.
