After surprise cast shake-ups and jaw-dropping twists, is Sullivans Crossing coming back for season 4? The Robyn Carr drama follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan) back to rural Nova Scotia to reckon with her estranged father Sully—and fans want answers.

If you have been keeping up with Sullivan's Crossing, you know the show loves a curveball. Season 4 is indeed happening, even with the headline-making cast shakeup. Here is what to expect, where to watch it, and what is actually going on with Sully.

The setup, fast

Based on Robyn Carr's books, the series follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan), who bails on city life and heads home to rural Nova Scotia. There, she tries to patch things up with her estranged dad, Sully (Scott Patterson), and finds a new connection with newcomer Cal (Chad Michael Murray), plus the rest of the local crew.

Season 4: when and where to watch

  • Canada: Premiered on CTV on March 22, 2026
  • U.S.: Premieres on The CW on April 20, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET
  • Streaming: Seasons 1–3 are on Netflix now. Season 4 is expected to hit Netflix in the summer after it finishes its cable run.

The Sully of it all

Before Season 4 bowed, Us Weekly reported in March that Scott Patterson would not be back. If you watched the Season 3 finale, the groundwork was already there: Sully left for Ireland to start a new chapter. Season 4 picks up literally the next day, with Sully still overseas. Translation: he is not physically in Season 4, but the show is keeping him in the mix offscreen, and the door is open for a possible return if the creative direction lines up down the road.

That is the on-screen explanation. Off-screen, there was friction. Patterson addressed his exit directly on Instagram, saying:

"The creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue."

He also pushed back on any suggestion that production simply moved on without him, saying it was not his decision to walk away and that he only spoke up because fans of the books and the show deserved clarity.

Bottom line

Season 4 is rolling out now (CTV first, The CW next, Netflix likely this summer). Maggie and Cal are still front and center. Sully is off in Ireland for the season, but the character is not being erased — just benched, with a potential path back if everyone can get on the same page creatively. If you need a refresher, Seasons 1 through 3 are already on Netflix.
