Will Gen V Return for Season 3? Latest Renewal Buzz, Release Window, and What It Means for The Boys
The Boys ends in 2026—but Gen V’s future hinges on the numbers; creator Eric Kripke says Season 3 is mapped out, yet it only happens if enough viewers turn up for Season 2.
The Boys is wrapping up in 2026. That part is settled. The open question is whether Gen V goes out with it or keeps breathing on its own. Short version: it survives if enough of us hit play.
So, is Gen V getting season 3?
Not yet. Prime Video has not ordered a third season. In October 2025, showrunner Eric Kripke said they already have a plan for Gen V season 3 and they’re excited to make it — but the renewal lives or dies on how many people watch season 2 right now, not six months from now.
'Now's the time that they're paying attention to the numbers. Don't watch even a year from now. Turn on Prime Video and watch it now. If enough people watch then we'll get a season 3.'
Translation: if you want more Gen V, open Prime Video and press play.
Where Gen V season 2 left things
Season 2 dropped in September 2025 and wrapped in October, ending with Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (played by London Thor and Derek Luh), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Sam (Asa Germann), and Cate (Maddie Phillips) bailing on Godolkin University as fugitives. They link up with the resistance against Homelander (Antony Starr), led by Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). Yes, A-Train — not a typo for anything else you might have seen floating around.
Do the Gen V kids show up in The Boys season 5?
Sort of, but not really. In the April 2026 premiere episodes of The Boys season 5, Starlight name-drops Marie and her crew. We still haven’t actually seen them on screen in The Boys — at least not yet.
About Andre: the real-life tragedy and the in-show explanation
Chance Perdomo, who played Andre in Gen V season 1, died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024. Kripke said in a May 2024 interview that the team was literally a week out from shooting when they got the news, and they had to rework the season fast — and that whatever production challenges they faced were nothing compared to what Perdomo’s loved ones were going through. In the show, season 2 reveals Andre died from a stroke while using his powers during an escape attempt from the Elmira rehabilitation center.
What about the other spinoff, Vought Rising?
Kripke says the same math applies to Vought Rising, which is slated for 2026. They have ideas for a season 2 if the audience turns up, and Amazon has been supportive, but it’s still a business. One extra wrinkle fans will care about: this one stars Jensen Ackles.
