Sasha Alexander asked to leave NCIS was — and is — a punishing show to make: roughly 10 months of filming a year, with days that could stretch past 16 hours. Two seasons in, Alexander was done. Creator Donald P. Bellisario described the moment in a July 2005 Chicago Tribune interview — she came to see him two days before his vacation, in tears: "I just can't work this hard." She had signed on for six seasons, but Bellisario went to CBS and persuaded the network to release her from her contract.
