Where was Sterling Point filmed? The real marina, the bookable summer camp, and a cottage that already had the name

Sterling Point, the eight-episode Prime Video drama that premiered August 5, 2026, follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), who inherits a mysterious island from her grandfather and leaves New York for a lakeside town that isn't on any map. The town is invented. Almost everything around it is real, and most of it is reachable by boat.

Ontario, split down the middle

The series was shot entirely in Ontario, Canada. Per Rubin herself, the production ran:

"Half in Toronto and half in Muskoka."

Muskoka is Ontario's cottage country — a district about two hours north of Toronto with more than 1,600 lakes, centered on the big three: Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, and Lake Joseph. Additional filming happened in Severn and Caledon. If the waterfront estates look like places where extremely wealthy people summer, that's documentary accuracy — Muskoka's shoreline is famous for exactly that, which is rather the point of the show's old-money-versus-new-money tension.

The locations you can actually visit

• Mortimer's Marina, Port Carling — the family- run, working marina at 1930 Mortimers Point Road that appears in the series. It sells fuel and propane, docks float planes, and runs a coffee, smoothie, and ice cream bar. Summer hours currently list Friday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — worth checking before you drive two hours.
• Sparrow Lake Camp, Severn — a real summer camp operating since 1912, used for filming, and the most bookable location of the lot: it offers nightly tent stays to the public.
• The lakes themselves — the boat-hopping geography of the show, where getting anywhere means a dock rather than a driveway, is just how the Muskoka Lakes function.

The cottage that had the name first

Here's the trivia the title quietly borrowed: a real, privately owned cottage called Sterling Point exists on Lake Joseph. It appeared in creator Megan Park's 2024 film My Old Ass — not as the island in this series — and no, you can't rent it. Park grew up spending 1990s summers in Muskoka, mined that for both projects, and has been open about wanting the show to capture the region as it actually is, gentrification included:

"We can really show Muskoka for what it really is," Park told CBC.

Is any of it in the United States?

None. Annie's New York framing aside, this is a rare case of a streaming series shooting Canada as Canada rather than dressing it up as somewhere else — Park has said that was deliberate. The seaplane, sadly, you'll have to source yourself.
