What shows are like Landman? Where to go next — inside the Taylor Sheridan stable and beyond it

Landman finished its second season in January 2026 with a Paramount+ viewership record and a third season already ordered. Season 3 started filming in May 2026. That leaves a gap, and Paramount+ has spent five years building an entire catalog designed to fill exactly this kind of gap.

Start with the obvious: the Sheridan shelf

Landman was created by Taylor Sheridan and journalist Christian Wallace, adapted from Wallace's Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown. Sheridan's other shows share its DNA — working men, corporate money, and a lot of driving.

  • Yellowstone ( 2018–2024) — the original. Five seasons of Kevin Costner defending a Montana ranch against developers, politicians, and his own children.
  • Tulsa King — Sylvester Stallone as a New York mafia capo exiled to Oklahoma. Three seasons in, closest tonally to Landman's dry comedy.
  • Mayor of Kingstown — Jeremy Renner brokering between gangs, guards, and cops in a Michigan prison town. Renewed for a fifth and final season in January 2026.
  • 1883 and 1923 — the Dutton prequels, with Sam Elliott and Tim McGraw in one and Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the other. 1883 is the strongest single season Sheridan has produced.
  • The Madison — Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, a Yellowstone-adjacent drama about a New York family relocating to Montana.
  • Special Ops: Lioness — Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman running CIA operations. Season 3 began streaming August 2, 2026.

If what you liked was the oil

The Son (AMC, 2017–2019) is the closest direct comparison anyone has made. Pierce Brosnan plays a Texas cattle patriarch pivoting his family into oil across two timelines, adapted from Philipp Meyer's novel. Two seasons, canceled, and largely overlooked.

For the nonfiction version, the Boomtown podcast that Landman is based on is still available and runs six episodes.

If what you liked was Billy Bob Thornton talking

Go to Goliath (Prime Video, 2016–2021), four seasons of Thornton as a burned-out lawyer, and Fargo season 1 (2014), where he plays a drifter who reorganizes a Minnesota town's moral arithmetic in about nine days. Both give him more room than Landman does.

If what you liked was the corporate knife-fighting

Succession is the obvious pick and needs no introduction. Ozark offers the same structure as Landman — a competent man managing crises for people who create them — with a Missouri lake instead of the Permian Basin. Justified splits the difference between Sheridan's westerns and a procedural, and Timothy Olyphant's Raylan Givens is the template a lot of these characters are working from.

What's next from Sheridan himself

Frisco King, a Tulsa King spinoff starring Samuel L. Jackson, began filming in Fort Worth in March 2026. Y: Marshals, the Kayce Dutton series with Luke Grimes, premiered on CBS on March 1, 2026 and was renewed almost immediately.
