Wednesday Season 2 Creators
The showrunners for the first season of Wednesday were Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Four of the eight episodes were directed by Tim Burton.
It has not yet been announced who will direct and write the second season. But Tim Burton will definitely remain on the project, and star Jenna Ortega will be among the producers of the show's continuation.
What Will Wednesday Season 2 Be About?
The second season of Wednesday was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Masque of the Red Death, about a prince who, to avoid the plague, locked himself in his castle and threw a masquerade.
The showrunners plan to devote more screen time to the Addams family. The creator of the series, Alfred Gough, said that the first season was devoted to showing the main character, who sees the world in black and white and learns that there are shades of gray.
In the second season, the immersion in the story of Wednesday's relationship with her family will help to reveal new facets of the character.
Jenna Ortega said there will be less romance and more horror in the second season. The actress added that in terms of structure, each episode of the second season will be like a separate movie.
Wednesday Season 2 Main Cast & New Additions
The main characters from the first season will return in the second chapter. Gwendoline Christie, who played the director of the Nevermore Academy Larissa Weems, has not ruled out the possibility of appearing in the second season, despite the events of the first.
Several new names have appeared in the cast: Joanna Lumley will play Grandmama, Steve Buscemi will play a character named Barry Dort, Billie Piper will portray Capri and Thandiwe Newton will play the role of Dr. Fairburn.
In addition, the star of the Back to the Future trilogy, Christopher Lloyd, and even Lady Gaga will appear in the upcoming season. Who exactly she will play is not specified, but presumably it will be an episodic role.
Wednesday Season 2 Release Date
The first part of the second season of Wednesday will be released on Netflix on August 6 and the second part – on September 3.
