Makoto Yukimura, the mind behind Vinland Saga, has responded to speculation about a third season of the anime, clarifying that he has not been informed of any ongoing production.

Fans of Vinland Saga have been buzzing with anticipation, but Makoto Yukimura, the creator of the acclaimed series, has stepped forward to clear the air regarding recent rumors about a third season. Taking to Twitter, Yukimura expressed his gratitude to the show's dedicated audience and addressed the speculation head-on.

“To all the Vinland Saga fans, thank you as always,”

he began.

“I just learned a moment ago that there's a rumor going around that season 3 of the anime Vinland Saga is currently in production. However, that information hasn't reached me yet. I hope it 's in production... But man, animating Hild's crossbow and stuff like that must be really tough, right.”

Rumors Spark Hope Among Fans

Yukimura went on to reflect on why such rumors might be circulating.

“But I think the rumor starts because there are many people who want season 3,”

he continued in a follow-up post.

“Thank you. I am also one of those who wants season 3. Now I have some free time, so I can help out on the production site with something. Like going out to buy lunch boxes or whatever.”

His comments highlight both the enthusiasm of the fanbase and his own desire to see the story continue. Despite the excitement, Yukimura made it clear that, as of now, he has not received any official word about a new season being underway.

Vinland Saga’s Journey So Far

Yukimura’s manga, which ran from 2005 to 2025, has captivated readers with its blend of historical drama and personal struggle. The anime adaptation first hit screens in 2019, introducing viewers to Thorfinn, a young man driven by revenge after his father’s death. The second season, released in 2023, shifted the narrative, following Thorfinn as he encounters Einar, a farmer whose own family has suffered tragedy.

Each season has explored new facets of the characters’ journeys, drawing in audiences with its emotional depth and action- packed storytelling. The transition from the battlefield to more personal, introspective themes in the second season marked a significant evolution for the series.

Looking Ahead

While the wait for a third season continues, fans remain hopeful that the saga will return to the screen. In the meantime, those eager for more anime adventures can look forward to a slate of new releases expected in 2026. The enduring popularity of Vinland Saga ensures that any news about its future will be met with excitement and anticipation.
