After years of anticipation, Vin Diesel confirms a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter is moving forward. The new film, Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath, will pick up the saga with fresh plot twists and returning cast members.

After ten years of speculation and renewed interest from streaming audiences, Vin Diesel’s supernatural action franchise is officially getting a second chapter. The actor recently took to social media to drop the first big details, including the sequel’s title and a few intriguing hints about what’s in store for fans.

From Box Office Flop to Streaming Sensation

Back in 2015, Diesel starred in The Last Witch Hunter, a film that blended high-octane action with fantasy elements. Directed by Breck Eisner and penned by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, the movie featured a star-studded cast: Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Julie Engelbrecht. Diesel played Kaulder, a cursed immortal tasked with hunting witches in the present day. Despite Diesel’s personal investment—the story was inspired by his own Dungeons & Dragons adventures—the film struggled with critics and at the box office, earning just $146.9 million and a low 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But over the past year, a surge in streaming viewership has breathed new life into the franchise, paving the way for a long-awaited sequel.

Kaulder’s Next Chapter: The Lion’s Oath

Diesel recently posted a photo of the script’s cover and opening page for the sequel, now officially titled Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath. Alongside the reveal, he shared a cryptic line:

“Some debts take centuries to pay.”

This teaser suggests the new story will dig deeper into Kaulder’s past and the consequences of his immortal existence.

The script’s first page features a conversation between Kaulder and “Young Dolan,” a nod to Michael Caine’s character, the 36th Dolan, who has long served as Kaulder’s ally and confidant. It ’s already been confirmed that Caine will return for the sequel, coming out of retirement to reprise his role. The story then jumps ahead by 80 years, hinting at possible flashbacks and maybe even a digitally de-aged Caine for certain scenes.

Studio Confidence and New Ambitions

Vin Diesel has been eager to revisit this world for years, and now, with the backing of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, it’s finally happening. Adam Fogelsen, the studio’s chair, recently explained the decision to move forward, citing the film’s growing popularity on streaming platforms and the enduring enthusiasm of its fanbase.

“The Last Witch Hunter has grown since its theatrical release into a global fan favorite, with audiences continuing to discover and rewatch it across every platform over the past decade. That enduring enthusiasm made clear there is an appetite for more stories set in this world. Vin and I have partnered many times over the years, and he is a true force in our industry. I'm thrilled to be reuniting with him as he returns to this iconic role, and excited by how advancements in filmmaking technology now allow us to economically deliver a sequel on an even more ambitious scale.”

With a new title, a returning cast, and a promise of bigger, bolder storytelling, Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath is set to reignite the franchise for a new generation of viewers.
