Thought Spider-Man: Brand New Day couldn’t climb higher—it's nipping at a box-office titan as its record-breaking run at the global box office continues.

Over the weekend, Spider- Man: Brand New Day banked another $39 million in the U.S. and $109 million overseas, lifting its domestic haul to $854.9 million and its global total to $2.22 billion, according to Box Office Mojo. That puts Tom Holland ’s latest swing just about $44 million shy of James Cameron ’s Titanic , which has earned $2.265 billion across all releases.

The climb has been powered by a towering international split — $1.365 billion of Brand New Day’s take comes from outside North America — echoing how Titanic stayed afloat for decades thanks to massive overseas turnout and periodic re-releases. Cameron’s epic stands at $674.35 million domestic and $1.59 billion international.

  • Weekend — $148 million worldwide ($39M U.S., $109M international)
  • Domestic total — $854.9 million
  • International total — $1.365 billion
  • Global total — $2.22 billion (per Box Office Mojo)
  • Titanic global — $2.265 billion (lifetime)
Only $44 million separates Brand New Day from Titanic worldwide.

Records so far

Brand New Day has already vaulted past Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the all-time global chart, settling in just behind Titanic. It ’s now Sony’s biggest release ever, overtaking the $1.9 billion run of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The film ’s overseas muscle has been a difference-maker, including setting a new high-water mark in India for a Hollywood release — outpacing milestones previously held by Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water.

With another strong frame in the books, Brand New Day is within striking distance of nudging Titanic out of the all-time global top five and is expected to overtake it within the next week or so.
