At the 83rd Golden Globes, Timothée Chalamet earned ‘Best Actor – Comedy or Musical’ for his role in Marty Supreme, marking a significant achievement in his acting journey.

At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, Timothée Chalamet was honored with the trophy for ‘Best ActorComedy or Musical ’ thanks to his dynamic performance as Marty Mauser, a fiercely ambitious ping-pong champion, in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. This role has been a labor of love for Chalamet, who spent seven years preparing for the part. He recently shared that he always kept a ping-pong table close by, no matter where he was filming.

“Everything I was working on, it was this secret: I had a table in London while I was making Wonka . On Dune 2, I had a table in Budapest, Jordan. I had a table in Abu Dhabi.”

Chalamet faced tough competition in the category, with nominees like Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, George Clooney for Jay Kelly, Jesse Plemons for Bugonia , Lee Byung-Hun for No Other Choice, and Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another. When he took the stage to accept his award, Chalamet was quick to acknowledge the talent around him.

“This category is stacked. I look up to all of you, thank you… To Josh Safdie, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for this role. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for this portrait, for your mind, for your worldview.”

Personal Triumphs and Heartfelt Thanks

Chalamet’s win at the Golden Globes follows his recent Critics’ Choice Award for the same role. During that acceptance speech, he made a point to thank his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, for her unwavering support.

“Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you, I couldn’t do this without you.”

He echoed those feelings again at the Globes, adding,

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter for my parents, for my partner, I love you.”

This recognition is another major step in Chalamet’s pursuit of excellence. At the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards, he spoke candidly about his ambitions:

“I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats.”

‘Marty Supreme’ and Its Festival Debut

Marty Supreme made its world premiere on October 6 at the New York Film Festival, surprising audiences with an unannounced screening. Safdie and Chalamet introduced the film, and after the credits rolled, co-stars like Tyler, the Creator and Gwyneth Paltrow joined them on stage. The film’s debut was met with excitement, further cementing Chalamet’s reputation as a leading force in contemporary cinema.
