Their TIFF double feature comes together: Seth Rogen in awe of Lauren Miller Rogen
Seth Rogen can’t stop raving about working with wife Lauren Miller Rogen as the duo brings two films to one fest — which ones, and where, come next.
At the Toronto International Film Festival, Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen showed up with a rare one-two punch: they’re celebrating two films they helped make — one she directed him in, and one they produced together. The couple stepped out at TIFF’s Road to the Golden Globes party on September 12 before bouncing between premieres for Babies and the animated feature Tangles, which also features Rogen’s voice.
“It ’s so nice. It’s just amazing when the people you love, you get to work with them and you’re proud of them and you’re amazed at what they do. And the fact that it’s happening twice in the same festival is pretty crazy.”
Double duty at TIFF
- Babies — Directed by Lauren Miller Rogen, who casts her husband opposite Anna Kendrick in a comedy about a married couple whose temporary arrangement with a friend and her young daughter upends their routine.
- Tangles — An animated adaptation of Sarah Leavitt’s graphic memoir about a young woman navigating her mother ’s Alzheimer’s disease, directed by Leah Nelson and produced by Lauren Miller Rogen, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg. Rogen also lends his voice.
Babies marks Miller Rogen’s return to the director ’s chair after Like Father in 2018. She met Kendrick for the first time over what turned into a three-hour, heart-to-heart conversation — and then put her opposite Rogen as their characters’ carefully ordered life collides with an unexpected houseguest: a friend and her little girl.
With Tangles, the pair bring something much more personal to the screen. Miller Rogen’s mother, Adele, was diagnosed with genetic early-onset Alzheimer’s at 55, an experience the couple has spoken about publicly and will explore further in their 2025 caregiving documentary Taking Care. Miller Rogen has said she recognized her own family in Leavitt’s story when she first read the book a decade ago.

Tangles first bowed at Cannes earlier this year before heading to Toronto.
