Claudia Winkleman tried the classic late-night chat-show thing. It was short, buzzy, and now it is over after one series. She has finally explained why.
What happened
BBC One ran seven episodes of 'The Claudia Winkleman Show' from March, Winkleman’s first solo celebrity chat show. It leaned into the traditional desk-and-sofa format and arrived right as her popularity exploded again thanks to 'The Traitors'. Then the BBC called time after that first run.
Why she stepped away
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Winkleman said the gig just did not feel right for her in the moment. She was grateful for the shot, grateful to the guests, and said doing it helped her figure out what she actually wants to be doing on TV.
'I realized I was just too nervous to enjoy it.'
She is happy sticking with the shows she is on now, but did not slam the door on returning to a chat format someday.

Ed Havard, the BBC’s Director of Entertainment, praised the series, pointing to Winkleman’s warmth and wit as why it was a pleasure to watch. He also confirmed she will front 'The Celebrity Traitors' later this year.
