The Handmaid’s Tale Star O-T Fagbenle Teases Spinoff Return
O-T Fagbenle isn’t ruling out a return as Luke in The Testaments, hinting conversations have happened while refusing to confirm or deny as he promotes Peacock’s The Miniature Wife.
O-T Fagbenle knows exactly what you want to ask him about The Testaments, and he is absolutely not giving it up. He will, however, tease just enough to keep Handmaid's fans hopeful while he runs around Peacock as a romantic lead in a sci-fi rom-com where Elizabeth Banks is six inches tall. Yes, that last part is real.
Will Luke show up in The Testaments?
While promoting his Peacock series The Miniature Wife, Fagbenle (45) was asked point-blank if he is coming back as Luke. His official position:
'I can neither confirm nor deny that.'
Classic. He kept the game going, saying there have been talks about a possible cameo and that he has seen the show and thinks the team is doing a stellar job. Translation: discussions are happening, nothing he can announce.
Quick catch-up on who's who
Fagbenle played Luke, June's (Elisabeth Moss) husband on The Handmaid's Tale. Their daughter, Hannah, reappears in The Testaments premiere under a new name: Agnes. After the Wednesday, April 8 premiere, Fagbenle shouted out Chase Infiniti for her performance as his onscreen daughter and joked that you should throw on The Testaments right after you finish The Miniature Wife. Efficient cross-promotion. Respect.
Meanwhile, on Peacock: The Miniature Wife
Fagbenle is currently busy co-starring with Elizabeth Banks in The Miniature Wife, a sci-fi romantic comedy based on Manuel Gonzalez's short story. The setup: a tech mishap shrinks Banks's character, Lindy, down to six inches, which turns her marriage into... a whole new scale of complicated. Fagbenle plays Richard, her love interest, and he is very much enjoying what he calls his 'lover boy era' after years of heavy drama. He also said he wanted something big, fantastical, and fun — mission accomplished.
- The Testaments premiered Wednesday, April 8; Fagbenle has seen it and praised the work.
- He will not confirm a return as Luke, but says there have been conversations about a cameo.
- Chase Infiniti plays his onscreen daughter, formerly Hannah, now Agnes.
- On The Miniature Wife, Richard eventually shrinks too; Lindy gets back to normal size, but Richard's fate is left offscreen.
- Asked if that ending tees up a spinoff for his character, Fagbenle leaned in: they are ready if you are.
So, what should you watch now?
The Miniature Wife is streaming on Peacock right now. As for The Testaments, Fagbenle is keeping the mystery alive, but the door for Luke looks very much ajar. And in case you are wondering about that tiny-rom-com tease: he did not say the words, but the vibe was clear — 'We are ready for the spinoff.'
