At the 2026 Golden Globes, Teyana Taylor took home her first award for Best Female Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Her heartfelt acceptance speech delivered a moving message of empowerment to Black women everywhere.

At the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, Teyana Taylor made history by earning her first-ever win for Best Female Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. The singer and actress was recognized for her standout role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, One Battle After Another. The moment her name was called, Taylor was visibly overcome with emotion, tears streaming down her face as she hurried to the stage to accept the honor. Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Garner, who presented the award, watched as Taylor paused for a quick exchange with fellow nominee Julia Roberts before stepping up to the microphone.

As she turned to face the audience, Taylor revealed a sparkling diamond thong peeking through a cutout in her black gown, drawing gasps and applause from the crowd. Still in disbelief, she joked, “I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I would get this.” Her words were met with laughter and cheers, capturing the raw excitement of the moment.

Family Pride and Director ’s Tribute

Looking up to the balcony, Taylor called out to her two daughters, who were watching from above at The Beverly Hilton.

“Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now.”

The proud mother ’s playful admonition brought a personal touch to her speech, highlighting the significance of the night for her family.

She then turned her gratitude to director Paul Thomas Anderson, expressing deep appreciation for his guidance and creative vision.

“Thank you for your vision, your trust and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless.”

Taylor’s heartfelt thanks underscored the collaborative spirit behind her acclaimed performance.

Empowering Message to Black Women

As her speech drew to a close, Taylor addressed Black women and girls watching the ceremony, delivering a message of strength and belonging.

“To my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability.”

She continued,

“Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.

Her words resonated throughout the room, offering encouragement and solidarity to women of color everywhere.

A Night of Triumph

Taylor’s victory marked a significant milestone in her career, as she triumphed over a competitive field that included Amy Madigan (Weapons), Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine), and Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good). The ‘Gonna Love Me’ singer’s win was not only a personal achievement but also a powerful moment of representation and inspiration on one of Hollywood ’s biggest stages.
