Tamra Judge is hyping a milestone 20th season for The Real Housewives of Orange County, teasing a hard reset and bigger drama after a lackluster season 19 on her Two Ts In A Pod podcast.

Season 20 of RHOC is shaping up to be a pivot for Tamra Judge. After a rough go in season 19, she says she is happier, steadier, and, yes, actually having fun again. And with Vicki Gunvalson back full-time, the show is leaning into its long history in a way longtime viewers are going to clock immediately.

The vibe check from Tamra

On Wednesday, April 8, Tamra, 58, teased the new season on her podcast Two Ts In A Pod. Her take: season 20 feels different in a good way. She called last season not great for her personally, said she was in a bad place then, and made it clear she is in a much better one now. She also noted she is grateful to still be there for season 20 as the longest-tenured Orange County Housewife, heading into her 16th full-time season.

She would not spill specifics because, in her words, if she talks too much she will get her ass handed to her. But she sounded confident: amazing season, different energy, and she is much happier. That tracks with what we have seen from her when the core cast is clicking.

Vicki is back, and the dynamic shifts

Tamra says the return of the OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson, has been a spark. With Vicki back full-time, Tamra says it feels like home and brings back some of those early-days RHOC vibes. She also pointed to what she called the core four: herself, Vicki, Shannon Storms Beador, and Heather Dubrow. That built-in history matters here. Meanwhile, the so-called newbies are not that new anymore. Jennifer Pedranti, for one, is now well-seasoned in Tamra's words. New blood is fun, sure, but there is a different rhythm when the cast actually knows each other.

How we got here: Tamra almost bailed last year

Season 19 was messy for her on and off camera. During filming, she was on the outs with Shannon and Jen, and at the same time she was dealing with her friend and podcast cohost Teddi Mellencamp's cancer battle. That pressure cooker ended with Tamra publicly threatening to quit in March 2025.

'It was a long run! When life gives you real problems this reality s*** doesn't make sense. Peace out ... I'm out.'

By August 2025, she clarified that the post came from a breaking point, not an actual final exit. Behind the scenes, Bravo brass stepped in. Andy Cohen and executive producer Alex Baskin called her and asked her to take a week off to decompress. The pitch was simple: take the break, come back in a week, and if you still want to walk, they will respect it. She says they were kind about it, and the reset helped.

Her castmates, though, were a different story. Tamra says she was not asking for special treatment, just some humanity. She felt Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter showed her zero compassion, and that Heather Dubrow was the one who actually did.

Quick timeline

  • Season 19 filming: Tamra clashes with Shannon and Jen while navigating Teddi Mellencamp's cancer battle.
  • March 2025: Tamra posts an Instagram Story saying she is out.
  • August 2025: She explains she hit a breaking point; producers Andy Cohen and Alex Baskin give her a week off and ask her to reconsider.
  • April 8 podcast: Tamra says season 20 feels different, she is happier, and Vicki's full-time return brings back that early RHOC feel. She also notes she is entering her 16th full-time season, still the franchise 's longest-running OC cast member.

Bottom line

Tamra is framing season 20 as a reset for herself and a throwback for the show, with the core four intact and Vicki stirring the pot again. After nearly walking away last year, she sounds locked in. We will see if the energy on the mics translates to the screen, but the ingredients are there.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo. Past seasons are streaming on Peacock.
