Based on Robyn Carr's book series, the show follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan), who moved back to rural Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estranged dad, Sully (Scott Patterson). What was supposed to be a quick escape turned into Maggie actually building a life in Sullivan's Crossing, complete with a slow-burn thing with Cal (Chad Michael Murray).

Season 3, which hit Netflix in August 2025, started showing cracks: Cal was ready to level up, Maggie wasn't. She even mentioned her ex, Liam (Marcus Rosner) — a summer fling that sounded like ancient history. Most of the season then steered them toward moving in together.
