A spinoff titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe has been officially ordered, set in The Big Bang Theory universe.

Rather than hanging out behind the register at the comic shop, Stuart Bloom finds himself cleaning up a cosmic mess of his own making. After he accidentally breaks a time‑travel device cooked up by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, the mild‑mannered clerk is tossed into a multiverse crisis where alternate realities collide and the stakes are way bigger than restocking back issues.

He won’t go it alone: Denise is along for the ride, geologist Bert Kibbler brings his rock‑solid weirdness, and Barry Kripke shows up in more than one form — including a version billed as “Supreme Ruler Barry Kripke.” The adventure leans hard into science‑fiction chaos while keeping the fast, character‑driven comedy that ties it to The Big Bang Theory.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres on July 23, 2026 on Max in the U.S.

How it got here

The project first surfaced in April 2023 as an untitled Big Bang spin‑off in early development. The name Stuart Fails to Save the Universe was revealed in March 2025 , and Max officially ordered the series in July 2025, setting up a return to Pasadena with a very different, sci‑fi tilt.

In the U.S., the season launches on Max on July 23, 2026, with new episodes rolling out weekly every Thursday.
