The psychological horror film Sender has dropped its first official image, spotlighting Britt Lower, known for her role in Severance. The photo captures Lower’s character hunched over a laptop, surrounded by a mountain of cardboard boxes, each one hinting at the unsettling mystery at the heart of the story.

Sender follows a woman whose life is upended when she starts receiving packages filled with deeply personal items. As the deliveries pile up, her sense of reality begins to fracture, driving her to obsessive lengths to uncover the identity of the person behind the parcels. The film’s synopsis teases:

“After receiving a series of packages containing unnervingly personal items, a woman tumbles down a paranoid rabbit hole to find her mysterious sender.”

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team

This marks the feature directorial debut for Russell Goldman, who adapts Sender from his 2022 short film Return to Sender. Britt Lower leads a cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, who also serves as a producer, Rhea Seehorn, and David Dastmalchian. Lower is widely recognized for her performance as Helly R in the acclaimed sci-fi series Severance. Rhea Seehorn, meanwhile, has earned critical acclaim for her work in the Apple TV series Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad fame.

Both Curtis and Dastmalchian bring significant horror credentials to the project. Curtis, a genre icon, is best known for her role in the Halloween franchise and has appeared in other horror classics like The Fog and Prom Night. Dastmalchian recently starred in Late Night With the Devil, a film centered on a live television possession that shocked audiences.

Anticipation Builds for Festival Premiere

Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her excitement about working with Goldman, stating,

“I am so proud to be a part of Russell’s first movie, the first of many. The little seed that Comet Pictures planted has now grown into a feature filled with talented artists surrounding a new and exciting filmmaker.”

Sender is set to make its world premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March. While an official release date has yet to be announced, the film’s haunting premise and impressive cast have already sparked buzz among horror fans eager for a fresh psychological thriller.
