Security guard Pascal Duvier has publicly apologized and taken the blame after Chappell Roan’s alleged run-in with Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter Ada, saying the March 21 hotel encounter was on him and that he was there for another client, not on Roan’s security team.

A weird hotel moment in Brazil turned into a weekend-long pileup of Instagram posts: a teary 11-year-old, a furious dad, a pop star denying it was her fault, and now a security guard publicly apologizing and saying he wasn't even working for her. Yep.

What allegedly went down

Over the weekend, soccer player Jorginho (real name Jorge Luiz Frello Filho), 34, said his 11-year-old stepdaughter had an upsetting run-in with a security guard at the hotel where they were staying. He didn't name her, but people quickly connected the dots: his wife, singer Cat Cavelli, shares daughter Ada with Jude Law. They were apparently at the same hotel as Chappell Roan, 28, ahead of Roan's headline set at Lollapalooza Brazil on Saturday, March 21.

Jorginho's version: Ada recognized Roan, quietly walked past the singer's table to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mom. No requests. No conversation. Then, according to him, a large security guard came over and spoke to Cavelli and Ada in an extremely aggressive way, saying Ada shouldn't be allowed to "disrespect" or "harass" people. Jorginho says Ada ended up very shaken and cried a lot.

The security guard apologizes — and says he wasn't on Roan's team

On Wednesday, March 25, security guard Pascal Duvier posted a public apology on Instagram. He says he takes full responsibility for what happened on March 21 — and that he wasn't working for Chappell Roan.

"I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan. The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals."

Duvier also said he made a judgment call based on info the hotel shared with him, things he says he witnessed in the days prior, and the overall security risk at that location. He describes his exchange with the mother as calm and well-intentioned, and says he regrets the outcome.

Chappell Roan: Not my call

Roan addressed it on Instagram Stories on Sunday, March 22, and was very clear: she did not tell any security guard to approach a mother and child. She says the pair never came up to her and weren't doing anything to warrant intervention, and that it's unfair for security to assume bad intentions when nothing's actually happened. She apologized to the mom and child for the situation, emphasized she doesn't hate fans (or kids), and said they didn't deserve to feel uncomfortable.

Ada's mom pushes back

Also on Sunday, March 22, Cat Cavelli said the guard was definitely not hotel security. In her words, he works with artists and was with Roan — though she couldn't say if he was Roan's personal security. She added that while she hopes Roan didn't send him over, there's still a level of responsibility that comes with being a celebrity to make sure the people around you behave appropriately.

The timeline, cleaned up

  • Saturday, March 21: Alleged hotel incident in Brazil; Roan is in town to headline Lollapalooza Brazil.
  • Sunday, March 22: Roan posts on Instagram Stories denying she sent a guard; apologizes that the mother and child felt uncomfortable.
  • Sunday, March 22: Cat Cavelli responds, saying the guard was not hotel security and was with Roan, though his exact affiliation is unclear.
  • Wednesday, March 25: Security guard Pascal Duvier issues a public apology, says he wasn't on Roan's team and acted on his own judgment.

So where does that leave things? Duvier says the call was his. Roan says it wasn't hers. Cavelli says he wasn't hotel staff and was with Roan, which muddies the optics even if the paperwork says otherwise. Messy situation, unfortunate outcome — and a reminder that one tense moment in a lobby can snowball fast when famous people are involved.
