Sebastian Stan hails Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II vision: “A genius of our time”
Sebastian Stan is giving you one more reason to be excited for The Batman Part II, throwing his weight behind Matt Reeves’ vision.
On a stop by Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sebastian Stan kept his lips sealed about whom he’s playing in The Batman – Part II—but he couldn’t stop talking about Matt Reeves and the script. Stan said Reeves has been chiseling away at the sequel for years and described the project as unlike anything he’s worked on before, even as he carefully sidestepped any character reveals.
“I have a lot of faith in it because I do feel like Matt is truly a genius of our time and one of the very few people that I think is so unique and so specific and has been at this for three years. I mean, it's not an accident.”
Pressed for details about his role, Stan dodged neatly, leaving fans to do what they do best: speculate. Online chatter has him pegged as all kinds of Gotham trouble, but nothing’s confirmed. Here are the names getting the most buzz:
- Two-Face (Harvey Dent)
- Victor Zsasz
- Hush (Tommy Elliot)
Reeves’ lane, not a lane change
Stan’s praise lines up with what Reeves established in The Batman: a grim, investigative noir that lived in clues, codes, and Gotham’s rot as much as brawls and Bat-tech. If Part II is the product of years of fine-tuning, as Stan suggests, expect that moody detective edge to cut even deeper.
Reeves hasn’t publicly tipped his hand on plot or villains, and Stan clearly isn’t going to be the one to do it for him. For now, the sequel is expected to arrive in 2027 , with more casting and story details still under wraps.
