Patrick Muldoon is gone at 57, and the tributes are pouring in. He kept a lot of his personal life low-key, but he also let enough slip over the years that we can actually chart his love life without reading tea leaves. Here is what happened and who mattered to him, with the messy parts explained.

What we know about his passing

Muldoon, best known for Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, died in April 2026. His manager confirmed the news to Variety. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that on the morning he died, he had coffee with his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, at their Beverly Hills home. He went to take a shower, and when he was in there longer than expected, Rothbart checked on him and found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. Paramedics were called and tried to revive him.

The relationships, the timelines, the context

• Miriam Rothbart — Muldoon and Rothbart kept things pretty private, but he did mark their two-year anniversary on Instagram in August 2025. He said they had been together for two years and joked about the night he convinced her to be his girlfriend. Rothbart was with him at their Beverly Hills place on the morning he died and was the one who found him and called for help.

• Denise Richards — They met making Starship Troopers in 1997 and dated on and off for years, splitting around 2000 after what Richards has described as nearly five years together. They stayed close until his death.

  Richards has talked about the bond for years. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2019, she mentioned they had goofy nicknames for each other from the Troopers set.
