Noah Wyle claims undisputed control over one household chore — but which one?

When the dishes pile up at home, Noah Wyle is the one who rolls up his sleeves. In a new chat with PEOPLE, the actor said he’s staked out the sink as his personal territory — a chore he actually enjoys because it gives him a quiet minute to think and, as he joked, conveniently makes him look very busy.

Wyle described it as part of a fair split with his wife, Sara Wells, at their place. At 55, the longtime ER favorite is balancing family life with leading the medical drama The Pitt, and he was clear that home responsibilities don’t stop when he’s off set.

“I am the dish maven. The sink is my domain.”

He even called it a strategic escape hatch: scrubbing plates lets him zone out and reset while keeping the household humming.

Sexiest Man Alive surprise

Wyle also confirmed he’s PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive this year — news he learned on October 27 and initially didn’t believe. He thought it might be a prank until Wells, 46, reassured him the honor was real.

The magazine’s tradition dates back to 1985, when Mel Gibson topped the first cover. One wrinkle: in 1993, the title briefly shifted to a duo — Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford — which meant there was no solo Sexiest Man the following year.
