Noah Wyle says a run-in with a beloved former teen idol turned a promising evening into an all-time cringe—and the name behind it is the kicker.

When Noah Wyle finally got a night to hang with Shaun Cassidy, he says he turned a friendly game of pool into an over-eager superfan moment — and watched the evening go sideways fast. On the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Wyle admitted he peppered the former teen idol and The Hardy Boys star with so many questions that the vibe never recovered.

"I came on a little strong,"

Wyle said the plan — a low-key pool night arranged by mutual friends — didn’t lead to a second get-together. Those same friends later told him Cassidy felt he’d been a bit much during their one-on-one. The ER alum added he still breaks a sweat just telling the story all these years later, even if he can laugh about it now.

Back to The Pitt

Awkward pool nights aside, Wyle’s day job is humming. The Pitt has been renewed for Season 3 at Max, with Wyle returning as Dr. Robby to lead the hospital-set drama.

The series is built around a real-time format that follows a chaotic shift inside a city hospital. The Season 2 finale put the characters through an emotionally and physically grueling stretch, setting up fresh medical cases and personal fallout to carry into the new run.

Story details for Season 3 are under wraps, and Max hasn’t announced a premiere date yet.
