On the latest episode of Chicks in the Office , Rob Lowe went long on why the 1980s still own his heart. While promoting his new movie, The Musical , the actor said the era wasn’t just career-defining — it was flat-out the most fun he’s ever had, thanks in part to a world without social media or camera phones.
“It was an incredible time to be in the business. It was an incredible time to make movies. It was an incredible time to party. It was an incredible time to be single. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
He doubled down on the sentiment later in the conversation, adding:
“In the totality of humanity, if I could have lived in any time, that would have been it.”
Lowe explained that life as a young star felt looser back then — no endless recording of every moment, no instant backlash loop. Even something as simple as a night out had a thrill to it because you genuinely didn’t know who would make it or where the night would go.
