Netflix’s The Beast in Me taps John Goodman for season 2
Season 2 of Netflix's The Beast in Me just landed a screen icon—cue the speculation.
John Goodman is joining Netflix ’s psychological thriller The Beast in Me as Jack — the father of returning lead Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes) — according to Variety. Character details are under wraps, but the gig drops a major new presence into Season 2 as the series expands beyond its one-and-done beginnings.
The show is making the same pivot that Big Little Lies once did: what started as a limited series is now moving forward with Season 2. That shift comes after a strong awards run for the first chapter — Matthew Rhys won the Emmy for lead actor in a limited or anthology series, and the show also took home a trophy for original dramatic score — and after a writers’ room quietly opened earlier this year, per Variety. Netflix announced the renewal in September.
