Mormon Wives Power Duo Dakota Mortensen and Demi Engemann Reunite for a New Reality Show
Alex Cooper is corralling reality TV’s most polarizing players for Unwell Winter Games, a new Unwell series pushing competitors through a four-day mental and physical showdown that reunites The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Dakota Mortensen with former costar Demi Engemann.
Alex Cooper is corralling some of reality TV's most love-them-or-loathe-them personalities for a new competition series, and yes, it sounds like chaos in a luxury parka.
What is 'Unwell Winter Games'?
Unwell (Cooper's banner) rolled out the cast on Monday, March 30 for 'Unwell Winter Games,' a four-episode series shot over four days at a luxe chalet in Park City, Utah. The premise: 16 of the most polarizing figures in pop culture thrown into mental and physical challenges, with the promise of sharp elbows, messy alliances, and the kind of raw drama Unwell likes to bottle and sell.
Two names guaranteed to spark conversation: 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' alums Dakota Mortensen and Demi Engemann, who will reunite in the snow. Given what their corner of TikTok has been dealing with lately, that timing is... pointed.
Who is actually competing?
Here are the notables Unwell has confirmed so far:
- Dakota Mortensen ('The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives')
- Demi Engemann ('The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives')
- Huda Mustafa ('Love Island USA')
- Anna Delvey (former 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant; yes, that Anna Delvey)
- Juliette Porter ('Siesta Key')
- Ekin-Su Culculoglu ('Love Island')
- Eyal Booker ('Love Island')
- Gleb Savchenko ('Dancing With the Stars' pro)
- Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt ('Bachelor in Paradise' couple)
Quick reset on the MomTok/Mormon Wives mess
Dakota and Demi's casting lands while their wider circle keeps making headlines. ABC recently said that Taylor Frankie Paul — Dakota's ex — will not have her season of 'The Bachelorette' air after new allegations of a domestic violence dispute with an ex. Taylor's rep sent this to Us Weekly on March 19:
"Taylor is very grateful for ABC's support as she prioritizes her family 's safety and security. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support and preparing to own and share her story."
For context: Taylor was arrested back in February 2023 and charged with assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child after an incident involving Dakota. She later pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge; the other charges were dropped as part of that deal.
Meanwhile, more fallout: Jordan Ngatikaura filed for divorce from Jessi Draper after five years of marriage. Then Jessi was spotted kissing Chase McWhorter — the ex-husband of their costar Miranda Hope. Demi, for her part, has already shaded Taylor in the wake of the Bachelorette news. And because reality production is never not complicated, Hulu cameras are currently down on 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' as the team figures out Taylor's future with the show.
Who is running this circus?
Alex Cooper is producing. Comedy creator Adam W. is hosting. Graydon Cutler and Grace O'Malley will be on hand to provide colorful commentary as things inevitably go sideways in the snow.
Where and when to watch
'Unwell Winter Games' premieres Monday, April 6, streaming exclusively on Unwell's YouTube. It's part of an expanded Unwell slate that also includes 'Love Overboard' (now streaming on Hulu) and the upcoming 'Let's Marry Harry' on Netflix.
Bottom line: four episodes, four days, one very fancy chalet, and a cast built to combust. Bring mittens.
